QUALITY
Quality cycle
Peltracom is constantly striving for quality improvement. To achieve this aim, we have opted to take a
cyclical approach. The information gained from one stage is used to improve the quality of the next link in the production process. Also, all information from customers, who are the final link in the chain, is used to optimise the extraction and processing of our raw materials. This creates a closed cycle of information for improving the quality of our substrates on an ongoing basis. The
quality cycle is established.
As a result of the vertical integration, Peltracom controls every stage in the production. This means that quality can be improved at any time in every stage.

Quality labels
Peltracom’s quality labels are the result of the many quality certificates that the company has acquired for her substrates over the years:
- BPF-label
As a member of the Belgian Potting Soil Federation (BPF), Peltracom has signed the BPF Charter. Through the Charter, Peltracom engages to produce potting soils that meet the strict quality standards imposed by the Ministry for Consumer Affairs and to ensure that the volume of bags sold meets the requirements set by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
- RHP-label
Peltracom was the first potting soil company in Belgium to be awarded with the “Regeling Handels Potgrond” label in 2002. Substrates with the RHP label comply with the chemical and physical requirements imposed by the RHP. RHP substrates are low in weed seeds and are free of pesticides and pathogens. This guarantees safe and proper application for professional growers.
- Certification NF 142
The “Norme Française” 142 (NF142) label guarantees the quality and safety of potting soils. Most Agrofino potting soils and barks have this label.
- CAS Charter
As a member of the “Chambre Syndicales des Améliorants Organiques et Supports de culture”, Peltracom has signed the CAS Charter. Through it, Peltracom engages herself to produce only those potting soils that comply with the Charter. The Charter also sets out a number of important chemical and physical properties that potting soils must comply with. The stated volume must also be present in each bag, with minimal tolerance.
- BLIK label
Peltracom has a whole range of BLIK-certified potting soils that are allowed to be used in organic farming. The BLIK certificate ensures that only those natural raw materials listed in Attachment 1 of European Directive 886/2008 are used.
- “the Code of Practise for Responsible Peatland Management”
Peltracom has signed “the Code of Practise for Responsible Peatland Management” elaborated by the
European Peat And Growing Media. Through this charter Peltracom engages herself to rehabilitate peat fields after use.
- FLL certificate (garden roof substrates)
Peltracom has been granted as first and only Belgian company the FLL certificate for its garden roof substrates. The German Landscape Research, Development and Construction Society (FLL) acts as independent non-profit organization with over more than 25 years of experience. The Peltracom roof garden substrates proved with the FLL certificate are the ideal base for a reliable and high quality green roof.

Quality guarantee
To guarantee the quality of all our products, a sample is taken from each production run. These samples are examined for their pH and electrical conductivity (EC) and are kept for a minimum of six months. Physical and chemical standards are set for each substrate. Action is taken if there is even the slightest deviation from these standards. Peltracom’s general quality policy is set out in a
Quality Manual of more than 1000 pages.
Each production site has a laboratory and appropriately trained staff. The various laboratories are equipped with the apparatus they need to conduct analyses on a daily basis. For more complex analyses, accredited international and national laboratories are used.
Peltracom is the only potting soil manufacturer that uses real-time analysis. This analysis makes it possible to determine the most important chemical and physical parameters of potting soil within 30 minutes.
